Ms. Laurie Wilson co-owner of Verde Valley Tile was the featured presenter at Wednesday’s meeting.

Ms. Wilson touted porcelain tiles as the best product on the market, and will “last a lifetime.” Verde Valley Tile is a husband and wife team with over 50 years of combined experience. “Our most important mission is to provide quality installation, service and products to help the members of our community.

Everyone has different needs, our job is to listen to our clients and recognize each person’s individuality. We want to know what you are truly wanting, with the goal of granting that request. We have earned our clients trust because we sincerely care about them, their families and their home. From the beginning to the end of a job we feel open communication is key. No job too big, no job too small. Where service is not just words, it’s action.” verdevalleytile@aol.com

Mr. Carl Ramsey, President of Architectural Environmental Associates, Inc. was the featured presenter at Wednesday’s meeting, and spent his time warning us about our “dying planet,” with the goal of taking individual action. “In 10 years, the earth won’t look like this. Right now, take a deep breath in, and realize that is the best breath you’ll take for the rest of your life.” He suggested that of the 35 deaths in the obituary column, 90% were probably premature because of toxic environmental factors. He mentioned that Phoenix was now 13% warmer, and that a particular spider was moving north at 113 feet per day as a result. He offered a list of individual steps we can take, including converting to solar energy (prices are very low right now), rainwater collection, recycling, etc. It was a very alarming talk, and yet also inspirational. If you’re interested in the role you can play, contact Mr. Ramsey at carl@aeapower.com, or at (928) 214-0005.

The Mission Statement of Architectural Environmental Associates includes: “To preserve, conserve and enhance the natural and built environments in which we live by providing the most inspiring and cost-effective home and commercial building design and construction, incorporating the most energy efficient and environmentally healthy design and construction methods possible, designing and installing the most cost effective, efficient and creative solar photovoltaic (PV), passive solar, solar hot water, and wind turbine systems possible, providing the most environmentally friendly, sustainable and cost-effective building and home products possible through our retail and internet company, “Green Goods,” and providing state-of-the-art Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and environmental consulting, testing and remediation (abatement) for already-constructed buildings and for new buildings during their planning stages.”

Mr. Ramsey has been in business for over 28 years and he and his company (AEA) have over one hundred years of experience in the field of green, sustainable, high performance Architectural Design and related environmental areas, which include rainwater, solar, passive solar, and was awarded National Greenbuilder of the Year for 2008. They are asbestos, mold, and lead paint-removal experts. The corporate office is in Flagstaff.

Mr. Bill Klauser was the featured speaker today.

He emphasized his creative side with numerous, whimsical samples of his special kind of art work, which features artwork that uses recycled material. One of his great passions–personally and professionally–is recycling and environmental consciousness. He confided to the club that he was born in the same Hoboken, New Jersey hospital as Frank Sinatra, was an eagle scout, and is a dangerously powerful tournament scrabble player.

“In Bios Life Slim I have found a product that offers people a better way of life through weight loss and added energy. I am happy and proud to offer this product to others, enabling them to experience what myself and countless others have. It comes in packets (2 per day), is extremely easy to consume, and tastes delicious. It slows the rate that food is turned into glucose, so that there isn’t a glucose spike, even when eating carbohydrates. Bios Life Slim gets you into the fat burning zone, and keeps you there as long as you take it twice a day.”

Ms Ahna Bridenbaugh, licensed acupuncturist and master of Chinese Medicine was the featured speaker today.

She was born in Billings, Montana, and still has a lot of country cowboy in her. Her father, a physician, was a large influence in her life, and despite her early interest in medicine, the strict German family background dictated women should be homemakers–or in Ahna’s case, a ballerina. Ahna was a dancer on the Sonny and Cher show, and toured around the world as a dancer. She performed for the Gloria Newman modern dance company, and was also a fitness trainer.

After 20 years, she didn’t feel she was fulfilling her destiny, and took her father up on an offer to go to a medical conference in Palm Desert, and in one 4-day weekend, was hooked–not on Western medicine, but on the alternative path of first chiropractic, then Chinese Medicine and acupuncture, and has been fulfilled in her wonderful healing career ever since.

The4 Montana background shows up in her love of everything outdoors–hiking, fishing, especially snow-skiing. acupunctureahna@gmail.com

Using acupuncture, Ms. Bridenbaugh says she can relieve any pain by 50% or more – instantly! She also can eliminate any one allergy in a single visit. Because acupuncture is a primary care medicine, it can help you resolve any symptoms you may present with. Acupuncture can effectively treat everything from the common cold to cancer and everything in-between.

At her riveting presentation, she demonstrated a new piece of software for acupuncturists that can help and confirm diagnoses, because it literally shows the energy level in the energy meridians. She even demonstrated the software on herself, which showed well-balanced energy. The club could have watched and listened for another thirty minutes for this real-time demonstration of the amazing world within the body.

Mr. Ken Hughes of NAZTEQ Consulting was the featured speaker.

He was born in Anaheim, CA. His mother moved to San Diego–his dad and stepdad were both in the Navy. His stepdad retired at age 40, wanted to move the family back to his home town of Rogue River, Oregon, a town of 1000. But he went even further and moved to Footscreek, Oregon that was so small it didn’t even have a listed population. He finally left for San Francisco where his sister lived. He lived in Hawaii for a while, but got “Island Fever,” and returned to San Francisco and lived either there or in Marin County Ca. for 17 years, and only rode a motorcycle with a commute over the Golden Gate Bridge.

He moved out of the fog and into sunny Sedona in 2004. He has traveled and backpacked through Central America twice–his wife is of Spanish descent and his father was from Spain. He has studied large format photography, and loves to hike.

Mr. Ken Hughes, President of NAZTEQ Consulting, was the featured presenter at Wednesday’s meeting.

Hughes opened by saying his goal is to keep your computer humming. He works with Mac as well as Windows, maximizing your computer’s effectiveness for your personal and business needs, including networking and telecommunication. Some of the most common problems are e-mail, printer set up and “why is my computer so slow?” He has worked in the computer field since 1984 and provides a free initial assessment helping you choose the most cost effective route.

Hughes will also make sure you’re getting the internet speed you’re paying for. He said often the question is whether to repair or replace and stated that all computers can be repaired. He focuses on what is going to benefit his clients and help them become more empowered when it comes to the technical side of life. Hughes will also help you understand and synch your smart phone.

He closed by saying that computer maintenance is like car maintenance: have it tuned up periodically and it will last much longer, saving you money and frustration. Hughes impressed the club with a detailed and valuable presentation. He also has a great sense of humor. http://www.nazteq.net

The featured speaker was Ms. Jane Perini, Creative Director of Thunder Mountain Design and Communications.

Growing up in Detroit, Jane has truly always been an entrepreneur. She started by collecting insects and decorating them with thread, creating an insect circus and charging a penny to attend. This was followed by decorating ice cream containers and selling them as pencil holders. She also monetized little red wagons by collecting the neighborhood kids in a convoy of wagons and taking them to and from the park, earning a nickel per child.

As an adult, she got her big break with a magazine design contract. From this she launched her own business in 1978: JEP Graphics (now known as Thunder Mountain Design and Communications).

Ms. Jane Perini and Mr. Wib Middleton, co-owners of Thunder Mountain Design & Communications were the featured presenters at Wednesday’s meeting.

Thunder Mountain Design & Communications works in graphics, marketing and sales, featuring books, cards and accompanying material with the books, which would include Books with CDs, business cards, letterheads–great for startup companies. They do Print on Demands books (one copy at a time).
You will leave with fresh ideas, new perspectives and approaches you may never have considered—regardless of whether we end up working together.

The featured speaker was Mr. Michael Woods, loan officer for Chase Bank in the Village of Oak Creek. Michael was born in New Orleans, moved to South Central Los Angeles at age seven in 1965, a month before the Watts riots. During high school, the daily thought pattern was how not to get beaten up that day. “People didn’t mess with me, because for some reason I attracted crazy enough gang members around me that no one messed with me.” He became a bank teller right out of high school, because a person from a bank talked to the high school Junior Achievement group. He was a teller at Security Pacific for 5 years, then was asked to manage a small S&L bank at age 21, and started a small S&L at 22. He had already learned that you can’t really make a lot of money on the operations side of a bank. “To be continued at later date,” since Michael had only described his life to about age 26 in his talk today.

Mr. Michael Woods, Loan Officer for Chase Bank (VOC office) was the featured presenter at Wednesday’s meeting.

Mr. Woods opened by saying that banks are unable to do business the way they used to, because of the Federal Regulatory Bill. Now you must qualify for a loan–there is no more “stated income.” Michael pointed out that at least 13 companies are involved with a loan transaction, and between 30 and 50 people are involved. Good credit is 620 (minimum for an FHA loan), although occasionally it can be as low as 580. A conventional loan generally requires a 660 credit rating. Downpayment minimums: 3 1/2% for FHA, 5% for a conventional loan. “No money down” loans are a thing of the past. “People don’t think banks are lending.

Chase has done 88,000 loans this year to date totaling $27 billion, and we are the 2nd largest lender in the nation. The appraisal process is always done with local appraisers, who really know our market, and we try our best to create a family relationship with our customers. Chase is the only major bank with branches in West Sedona and the VOC.

Mr. Woods impressed with his thoroughness and expertise, while maintaining a warm and welcoming presentation.

There was no featured speaker at this meeting.

Mr. Jeromy Kaehler of Northco Electric, LLC was the featured presenter at Wednesday’s meeting.

Northco Electric, LLC is a fiull licensed, bonded, and insured electrical consulting company. Jeromy brings over 10 years of experience in the commercial and resiodentilal electrical fields to the trade.

He received his electrical training and certification with the Redwood Empire Electrical Training and Trust in Santa Rosa, California, where he worked until 2005. He apprenticed for over 8000 hours, was trained by journeymen, went to school for 5 years in electrical safety, electrical theory, and 1 1/2 years of code study.

Locally, he worked with Redstone Properties, who used him over electrical contractors, because his training was so much more extensive as an apprenticed electrician. He demonstrated the meticulous detail of his work regarding safety, and compared it to the corner-cutting work of many electricians.

Mr. David Mikos of HandyPro Services was the featured speaker.

David was born and raised with his single Mom in Chicago, loved school and sports, moved to Charlotte, North Carolina at 14, went into the military after High School, was a candy striper at 45/hrs a week, but didn’t want to be in medicine.

He started his own day camp for kids in his neighborhood in the summer, took them to the pool, and tutored them after school started again. He has always been involved with youth programs.

In the Navy, he was an operations specialist, working with radar, multi-tasking, went to the Persian Gulf, hit a mine, was out of the Navy in 1989, was a painter while going to school, went back to active duty in the Coast Guard–air traffic for boats and ships out of Los Angeles, was a pollution investigator in the Louisiana bayou, transferred to Guam, Micronesia, Hawaii, and Alaska.
