Ms. Laurie Wilson of Verde Valley Tile was the showboater for the June 15th Sedona Referrals Club meeting. She emphasized the personal interaction with hr clients, because she brings her samples (more than 150) to your home. She looks at your home in terms of what is a fit for you, in terms of your tastes and personality–notices if you are meticulous, or more flamboyant. She might recommend an accent in a tile–maybe a little red in a natural color stone, or in a backsplash. Verde Valley Tile also does tiles for swimming pools as well as repairs. She masks sure that you get the durable swimming pool tile that is very durable, and can provide durable alternatives to tiles that might not last. VVT has been in business over 30 years.

Ms Chetan Kane was the speaker, and entertained us with her incredibly varied background. Some highlights include growing up on Long Island, surrounded by people from widely different cultures–Russian farmers, Flemish artists, she used to be a silversmith, and was wearing one of her pieces. She attended Boston University in art, had two children, started two schools grounded in consciousness-raising, worked with puppets and marionettes, did rental properties for years, watched contractors, became a horse whisperer, had a private mortgage business, and did conflict resolution in Europe. She quipped that she was glad she had taught 5th grade and had learned to deal with children, because especially the German and Italian men shouted like 5th graders in the beginning. She is a scuba diver, is an artist with an interest in Mayan art in Guatemala, and once saw a “mayan” piece of pottery that later she discovered was made in China–this is before people knew about transmigration.

The Sedona Referrals Club meets Wednesdays at 7 a.m. at the Heartline Cafe in West Sedona. Each meeting features a showboater & a speaker. Each member and guest is allowed a one-minute commercial as part of the meeting format. The club promotes prospect referrals and each business category is represented by only one member.
